Jonesboro is proud of its school systems, which are above the national average across the board. Jonesboro realizes that the best investment to a bright and prosperous future for the city is to provide the best education to all of its children. Three of the public schools in Jonesboro were among only 144 throughout the country to be recognized and honored with the Presidential Awards for Excellence.

Jonesboro is also home to Arkansas State University, which offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of disciplines, and also offers a doctoral degree in educational leadership. ASU is dedicated to creating a supportive environment for students, based on cooperative partnerships with faculty that provides a learning experience which is characterized by commitment to excellence, opportunity and diversity.
